Dear Holcomb Families,
Our staff, PTA, and community have come together to create a food and resource pantry at Holcomb on November 24th and 25th during conference hours. We are asking for assistance in collecting items for families such as food, hygiene, and household items. These items will be stored in our building and will be available for families to access November 24th and 25th. There are a few items we have found are most needed at this time. Click HERE for a list of specific needs we have identified, however any donation is greatly appreciated.
If you are able to donate, you can drop off donations in the main office. We ask that perishable items be delivered closer to the 24th and 25th so that we can properly store them and avoid spoiled items. If you would like to support the food pantry by donating funds please use the following link to make a financial contribution: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/7VGTQSFD4FA8A. Funds collected will go directly towards the purchase of frozen meats and fresh fruits/vegetables so they can be purchased closer to when the Food Pantry is open. If you prefer to donate items this weekend, please contact the office at 503-785-8100, email the PTA at holcombpta@gmail.com, or text 503-732-6752 to arrange a time.
If your family is in need of support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us! We are here to help!

All Smiles Community Oral Health will be providing free dental screenings, sealants, and fluoride at your child’s school the week of January 12, 2026. Healthy teeth are important to your child’s overall health. A dental screening is a quick look inside your child’s mouth to check the overall health of their teeth. Dental sealants are protective coatings put on the back teeth to prevent cavities and fluoride is a vitamin that is brushed on the teeth to make teeth stronger and prevent cavities. Click this link to sign the permission form for your child online or look for consent forms that will be sent home with your student soon.

Holcomb Parents, Guardians, and Caretakers:
Holcomb Elementary School will be hosting a Fall Walk on Friday, October 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. What is a Fall Walk? Staff and Volunteers will be staffing each exterior door to Holcomb and will have a small gift, piece of candy, or other item that will be the "theme" of that particular stop. The goal of Holcomb families participating is to stop at each themed door of the school to pick up the item(s) that are being given away at that stop. It is also a chance for parents and students to interact with each other, visit our campus, and have a shared Fall experience.
Because we've already been asked the question: yes, students *may* wear Halloween costumes to this event (if they choose to do so), but they are certainly not required. This event is for all Holcomb students and families (K-5). If your student DOES choose to dress up for this event, please make sure that any accessories are school appropriate (no fake weapons, etc.) and not violent (no fake blood; fake limbs; etc.). We will have many young kids participating in this event and our goal is to make it a fun and light event (I.E. - not scary). Siblings and families are welcome!
Lastly: Parents or guardians must be present with their student for this event. This is not a drop and go event.
Please reach out with any questions you may have moving forward! We hope to see you on the 24th!

We are 82% to our goal of $20,000.00! If we meet our goal, there will be a schoolwide celebration involving Principal Bryan.
Remember to return any cash or check donations to the school by Wednesday, October 8th.
Or share this link to have donations made electronically to your student
https://app.givebacks.gives/holcomb2025
Thank you in advance for all the donations received so far. We are excited for the 2025-2026 school year and how we will be able to support our school and students!

And the results are in! Top runners from each class will receive an insulated Holcomb water bottle, and the class with the most laps wins an extra recess!
Congratulations to all our Holcomb Heroes for running a total of 5,744 laps!!
Fundraising results will be posted in a few weeks. Top earners in each grade will receive an insulated Holcomb water bottle, and all students who raise $25 or more will receive a Holcomb backpack. The class that raises the most money will receive a Pizza Party!
We are 77% of the way to our fundraising goal, and there is still time to donate. Help us get to 100% of our goal by October 8th and the school will win a special prize.
Registering your student is simple and free using this link https://app.givebacks.gives/holcomb2025 and from there you can share the donation link with friends and family!

Over the past several weeks, OCHS football players have been visiting elementary campuses during morning drop-off, greeting young students with high-fives, encouragement, and friendly conversations. The program, led by Coach Aaron Skinner, is designed to help high school athletes connect with and positively impact the broader community they represent.
"We want our players to understand that being part of this program means that we have an opportunity to use our platform to positively influence those around us and be a part of something bigger than ourselves," said Coach Skinner. "When they see the smiles and excitement from the students and parents, it reminds us that we can all, regardless of our backgrounds and circumstances, make a positive impact on others. It’s a blessing to be able to share that excitement with those students and positively impact the youth in Our Community (OC)!"
The morning visits have been incredibly well-received by students, families, and staff alike. Holcomb Elementary Principal Joshua Bryan noted, "It's amazing to see how something as basic as this can set a positive tone for what the day will be like. These visits energize our younger kids in the morning and, for our high school players, hopefully serves as a valuable lesson about leadership and community responsibility."
This has expanded beyond football, with volleyball players and even the marching band joining the effort throughout their respective seasons. Players rotate between different elementary campuses to ensure all younger students in the district can participate in this uplifting tradition.
The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on community engagement within OCHS programs, demonstrating that winning extends far beyond the scoreboard.
